Summer 2011 The artworld is burning had a residency stay in Copenhagen, through FAIR at Fabrikken for Kunst og Design, http://www.ffkd.dk/residencies/residencies.php.
Arken noteI woke up by strong wind. Arriving later at Arken Museum for Moderne Kunst, I asked the receptionist where I might find a good piece of art by a female artist. She thought for a second and then recommended Elina Brotherus. I found her videowork "The Mirror" hidden in a anonymous corner. Also I found a work of Mona Hatoum and Stella Hamberg. The rest of the museum´s spatial form is constituted by Reyle, Eliasson and some other guys.
Statens museum for kunst (SMK) note
At my visit at Statens Museum for Kunst I was accompanied by two enlightened girls. They kindly guided me through Fos´ installation.
Louisiana note
| Louise´s eyes and me looking |
I went to Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, to look closer at the museum´s art collection. As their website promises, it is mainly male artists both inside and outside the museum. At the end of my visit I had an edifying meeting with sculpture-heroine Louise Bourgeois. Title of the sculpture is Eyes. I asked a proud grandmother to take a picture. She was really into Louise, and told me the story about the artist who ironed her newspapers before she would read it. With admiration she repeated: Louise var virkelig skør. Louise var virkelig, virkelig skør. (Louise was really crazy. Louise was really really crazy.)
